Come join us at RPL for a festive Hanukkah performance by the Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir! The Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir has been learning and creating Jewish music for over 45 years, with an emphasis on Yiddish culture and other Jewish heritage languages and cultures. The choir is open to amateur singers of all backgrounds, and is committed to an inclusive, supportive singing experience for everyone who wishes to join. The choir is based at the Peretz Centre for Secular Jewish Culture, a secular, Yiddish-based organization that seeks to provide inspiring, imaginative programming for its diverse membership. The Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir celebrates Hanukkah through both of its major messages: the family and home as a source of comfort, and the importance of reckoning with injustice and cruelty in our world. Join them as they sing their way through songs in four languages, some serious and some joyous, to mark the return of light at the moment of deepest darkness. This is a drop in program for all ages. No registration is required. Accessibility RPL is working to reduce barriers and offer programs where everyone can participate equitably.
